StrongerU Senior Fitness
Empowering recreation and fitness professionals to deliver exceptional senior fitness experiences.
At StrongerU Senior Fitness, we often hear some version of the following statements,
"I've taken a senior fitness instructor course, learned the theory and some exercises, but I'm still not sure how to teach a quality, safe, and effective senior fitness program"
"I've been teaching for decades and I'm looking for a way to continue to keep my class fresh and engaging"
StrongerU Senior Fitness empowers instructors through online instructor certification and 30-minutes of new pre-choreographed class content every month via an instructional video and choreography notes. We bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation by giving you everything you need to teach a quality, safe, effective, and engaging senior fitness class.
About StrongerU Senior Fitness
Rooted in Exercise Science
StrongerU Senior Fitness addresses a need for quality and consistent senior fitness programming. Group fitness has increasingly shifted toward the pre-choreographed model, where instructors receive class content containing an instructional video, choreography notes, and suggested music.
As a recreation or fitness professional, your time is valuable. The less time you spend choreographing, the more time you can spend making a difference in the lives of the seniors you work with.
By 2030, there will be over 85 million seniors making up over 20% of the North American population. Currently about 90% of seniors live with at least one chronic health condition. Studies continue to show us that engaging in physical activity is the most effective way to stay healthy as we age.
The StrongerU Senior Fitness Series
Monthly class content to ensure your participants meet the physical activity guidelines for older adults.
The physical activity guidelines for older adults recommend 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity per week. Performed seated or standing, this program engages the heart, lungs, and brain through aerobic movement combinations set to music. StrongerU Cardio participants can march, move, and dance their way to a healthier heart and lungs.
The physical activity guidelines for older adults recommend muscle and bone strengthen activities twice per week. StrongerU Strength is designed to help participants engage all of their major muscles, and the brain, using dumbbell weights, resistance bands, and air-light balls. Performed seated or standing, this program uses interesting movement combinations, instead of boring repetitions, to engage each of the major muscle groups.
StrongerU Stretch begins with a dynamic warm-up before progressing into head to toe static stretching aimed at maintaining and increasing flexibility and range of motion. The program ends with a themed guided relaxation and purposeful breathing. Each class includes a component of mindfulness, purposeful breathing, and guided relaxation.
StrongerU Circuit uses an air-light ball to complete drills and exercises which promote increased balance and falls prevention. Each class begins with a group warm up, followed by cardiovascular, strength, coordination and balance drills, and ends with a cool down and stretch.
