Joy, Play, and Summer Fun!
Summer has a way of bringing out our playful side. It invites us to laugh more, embrace spontaneity, and rediscover simple pleasures.
This month, we encourage you to embrace programs that spark laughter, curiosity, friendly competition, and nostalgia. Whether it's a summer carnival, a water balloon toss with staff, a picnic social, or a game that gets everyone cheering, joy has a powerful way of bringing people together.
At StrongerU, we believe engagement doesn't always need to be serious to be meaningful. Sometimes the most impactful moments come from shared laughter and unexpected fun.

An Opportunity for Meaningful Engagement and Positive Community Impact
Parents and staff are looking for summer opportunities for their kids. Why not with your residents? Summer camps are a tax-deductible expense for parents and often I highly sought after service. Create a budget for supplies, food, and extra staff to make this program a reality. Charge a price per child that covers at least the cost of the program. Charge a little more to create an additional revenue stream for your community or to raise extra funds to do something special for the residents.

4. Special Dates, Themes and other Highlights
Not every holiday, awareness day, or themed day needs a program or event attached to it. Thoughtful programming isn’t about keeping up with every date on the calendar, it’s about choosing what truly aligns with your group, your team’s capacity, and your community’s values.
Quality over quantity isn’t a shortcut. It’s a good practice to maintain your capacity and to continue to do amazing things for your group. When we give ourselves permission to say no to some things, we create space to do less things with more impact.
Below is an overview of July holidays, awareness days, and special events:
July: Parks and Recreation Month, Disability Pride Month
July Sporting Events: FIFA World Cup, Tour de France (Jul 4-26), Wimbledon Finals (Jul 11/12), MLB All-Star Game (July 14th)
July 1st: Canada Day (CAN)
July 4th: Independence Day (US)
July 7th: World Chocolate Day
July 13th: National French Fry Day
July 15th: Give something away day (Donation drives, community giving projects)
July 17th: World Emoji Day (Tie into Intergenerational camp ideas or programming)
July 18th: National Ice Cream Day (See programming ideas above)
July 24th: International Self-care Day (Spa/wellness programming)
July 30th: International Friendship Day
5. StrongerU’s Movement Moments: StrongerU’s Movement Moments are brief movement-based activities designed to help increase energy, connection, and participation. It’s not about exercise intensity—it’s about creating an inviting start to a program. Movement Moments can be done seated or standing and work well at the beginning, or middle, of any activity, class, or social event.
Access the Movement Moment for July and receive alerts every time there is a new Movement Moment here.
StrongerU’s Movement Moments can be integrated:
At the start of a morning program
During a break in a class or workshop
As a playful energizer before a social event
Movement Moments are meant to be short, simple, and adaptable for all abilities—helping your group feel more open, connected, and energized.
This month’s Movement Moment features a Getting Energized track to Car Wash by Rose Royce from one of our DROM for Seniors classes.
Looking Ahead
Each month, this blog series will continue to provide:
Seasonal and thematic program ideas
Special event inspiration
One featured Movement Moment that fits seamlessly into any program
Our goal is to support programming that feels purposeful, sustainable, and genuinely engaging to help move beyond routine and into meaningful connection.
Share your ideas!
Do you have a program or event planned for July that you're really excited about?
